Sober Beginnings

First, I would like to wish all my subscribers a safe and progressive 2025. I would also like to thank you for your interest in my posts and for your referrals. in 2024, only 100 new subscribers came on board so I need to do better, and partly this depends on feedback from you as well as what you share with others. Revenue shrank considerably so this brings me to the first topic for 2025: not just the economy but the entire financial system.

Uranus will still be in Taurus most of the year though it does cross into Gemini and then retrogrades back into Taurus. Thus, the changes we have been anticipating really need to happen this year. I am not going to speculate on which way the winds are blowing. The spectrum goes from a jubilee with all debts scrubbed from the books and perhaps some refunds for irregularities in the financial industry . . . to a digital system based on social credit along the lines of what has taken place in China.

Obviously, I would favor a reset to zero and a clean start since otherwise, the pressure to slave away to keep one’s head above water is excessive. A jubilee would be a one-time event, and has precedents where inflation has eroded the value of the currency and interest rates are based on greed rather than monetary responsibility. It is anyone’s guess what a replacement for the current system would entail. Most people talk about gold-backed or asset-backed government issued currency. Only a few countries have this kind of system because most currency creation is handled by privately owned banks who, if my opinion counts for anything, should not have the leeway they have had for so many decades.

Everyone, I think, understands that vaults full of gold means the currency has backing, but have they understood that this is essentially a frozen asset that contributes absolutely nothing to what is called the velocity of money. Money is a means of exchange so it has to change hands to stimulate activity and prosperity.

Alternatives to gold would be other precious metals and perhaps gems, but the same argument would apply. Tying the currency to productivity is another possibility. One can include both agricultural and industrial production or sales, but such indices would tend to fluctuate more than precious metals. In my opinion, a digital currency would be an accident waiting to happen. The value is whatever people imagine or whatever the issuer convinces people to believe or whatever they insist is the truth. There is nothing inherent in a digital system to prevent abuse, and the risks are enormous since a glitch can cause a lot of headaches for a lot of people, not to mention what kinds of intentional fraud would be facilitated. Doesn’t it always depend on who controls what?

Tying a digital currency to a social credit system is obviously what the censors want so with Uranus going into Gemini, I can only imagine what we might — in the near future — have to go through to retrieve our right to freedom of thought and speech.

It must be obvious that the powers that be have acted on their own behalf without regard for citizens so if we were really going to let our imaginations go wild, we have to ask what it will mean if the current elite manage to acquire so much real estate that when Uranus goes into Cancer, we have to struggle to regain the right to own private property.

My understanding is that this is more or less the case in China. People may own homes and buildings but the land on which they are built is leased from the government. Hawaii had a lot of property with long-term leases, but these are often accidents waiting to happen . . . and when you think about who is in the rooms where the issues are being discussed, you do have to raise your antennae.

I think the changes will be railroaded through in a rush so as to clear the decks for other agenda . . . so this concerns me. Combining some relief with unpopular reallocation of the power to create money is probably the pacifier that will soon be promoted by the complicit press.

War and Peace

At this time, the new U.S. administration is “staunchly” pro-peace except that Israel is obviously off the table in terms of how influence should be used. This speaks more to influence and alliances than to ethics so it falls more under the influence of Pluto in very early Aquarius. I hold the very unpopular view than Pluto is indeed a malefic so we should expect our rights and ideals to be trampled unless the people wise up to the name of game and demand transparency and equality.

This said, I am cautiously optimistic about the long-term, not about the interim power structure and direction of the winds. However, I love this poem by Ella Wheeler Wilcox though the version I first heard was a little more lyrical:

One ship drives east and another drives west
With the selfsame winds that blow.
Tis the set of the sails
And not the gales
Which tells us the way to go.

Like the winds of the seas are the ways of fate,
As we voyage along through the life:
Tis the set of a soul
That decides its goal,
And not the calm or the strife.

In this is our hope. The more people who are soul conscious and determined to manifest what is in the best interests of all life on Earth, the better the outcome. Afterall, the current leadership has, in general, not earned the right to stay in power.

A lot of hope has been placed on the new U.S. administration. Though I prefer it to the outgoing team, I have very little enthusiasm for most of the nominees to high positions. The first issue, I believe, is to find a balance between short-term economic revival and long-term harmony with life which means the off-grid crowd has to be on an equal footing with the high tech, economically ambitious, progressive elite, most of whom owe their success to how they have been riding the waves of the last few decades. This, unfortunately, says nothing at all about the long-term consequences of high consumption and low emphasis on strategies for sustainability and renewal of depleted resources.

The Wild Card

As mentioned in previous posts, the wild card would be a friendly alien presence in plain sight. It would have the potential for upsetting many carefully planned erosions of freedom and consolidation of control . . . and it would unravel some highly entangled concepts that are without validity. This might be what is called crossing one’s fingers . . . and should it occur, it would be at the expense of humanity rising to the need to see clearly and address its issues on its own.

Apology: on the last post with the drone show, the dragon is for the outgoing year. In the incoming year begins on the 29th and it will be the year of the snake.

China has a system that was probably based on influences from Chaldea. It is a sixty year cycle with 12 animals and five elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. The current cycle began in 1984. So, 2025 is the “year” of the wood snake and it ends on 16 February 2026.

We have similar influences in a minute with 60 seconds and an hour with 60 minutes. It is referred to as a sexagenary system.
