Where in Africa? The one thing for you to keep in mind is that, in Africa, all doctors know how to treat malaria. If we were to contract something, we can definitely help with the loose ends once he returns. Don't allow yourself to worry.
This is wonderful, but it means he is outdoors a lot so there are risks. However, the necessary medicines are available in proper shops so you should not worry too much. If you write him, you can pass along some suggestions and also that they can plant some anthelmintic herbs around the shelters. It will save misery and lives. Children are highly vulnerable as are those without adequate nutrition and hygiene.
